Based on the traditional spiritual Rise Up, Shepherd, and Follow, this lively carol combines Appalachian folk style with the joy of the season. Students will learn call-and-response form and alternating melody and accompaniment. Syncopated rhythms, steady bass line, and old-time fiddle riffs will transport players and audiences to the snowy Smoky Mountains for a winter celebration. Includes violin 3 (viola in treble clef) and alternate viola (violin 2 in alto clef) parts for flexible ensembles.
